Cathy Myers studied Clarinet Performance at The University of Texas at Austin and has 20 years teaching experience. Performance ensembles included: The University of Texas Wind Ensemble and Chamber Music Groups, The University of Texas Symphonic Band, The University of Texas Longhorn Marching Band. Cathy was taught under the tutelage of various prestigious teachers: Dr. Thomas Lee, Glenn Richter, Jerry Junkin, Paula Crider, Leland Munger, and Amy Blair, professional clarinetist/prominent private lesson instructor/mentor.

Cathy had the honor of being a 3-time TMEA Allstate player in both the top orchestra and top band.

Cathy currently teaches in 3 different school districts at various campuses: Fort Bend ISD (Elkins HS), Katy ISD (Jordan HS and Adams JH) and Lamar Consolidated ISD (Foster HS). Additionally, Cathy also teaches clarinet master classes at Elkins HS, Foster HS, bass clarinet/clarinet at Clements HS, Sugar Land MS, and Sartartia MS. She previously taught at George Ranch HS, Travis HS, Terry HS, Bowie MS, and Wright JH.

Cathy has proudly served as a TMEA Allstate judge for seating the Texas Allstate bands/orchestras and has also been a region band judge for 15 years. She has been a judge in both Region 13 and Region 23 for HS and MS Region Bands as well as the HS Region Orchestra.

Cathy is excited to continue teaching another year at Foster HS where she has helped numerous students advance to not only Region Band and Area, but also to Allstate as well as outstanding solo performances including at other campuses as well. She works to inspire her students’ success not only as musicians to discover the enjoyment of music and the development of their clarinet playing, but helps guide them as they mature towards their future endeavors.
