FOSTER “FALCON” MARCHING BAND AND GUARD
COMMITMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

Participation in the Foster Band & Guard requires ALL students to enroll in one of the instrumental Music Classes. Students who participate must commit to being on time to ALL rehearsals and performances. This will mean rearranging work schedules or other activities. Parents must ensure that students will be on time to all rehearsals and performances. Please review the Band Calendar located on this website and be aware in advance of all dates for ALL camps, rehearsals and performances. In addition you agree to meet all financial obligations or work out a payment with the directors and the band boosters.

STUDENT CONTRACT:

SCHEDULE:
* I have reviewed the Foster Band Calendar.
* I make the Commitment to attend ALL rehearsals and performances, as well as Band Camp.

PREPARATION:
* I make the commitment to come to all rehearals fully prepared, with my instrument in good working order, drill charts, sheet music and water jug.
* I make the commitment to maintain the performance standard that the Foster Band is know for. That means consitently practicing, learning and memorizing show music, learning drill and all manuevers, and continually mproving on my instrument as well as auditioning for Region Band and participating in Solo and Ensemble.

FINANCIAL:
* I will make every effort to fulfill the financial commitment in a timely manner.

ELIGIBILITY:
* I understand that I must maintain passing grades at ALL times during the year to maintain eligibility and to continue to participate with the Band & Guard. *

BEHAVIOR:
* If at any time, I compromise any rules or regularions in the LCISD Student Code of Conduct or the LCISD Extraccurricular Handbook, I will be disciplined accordingly and will be at risk of being removed from the program.

ATTENDANCE:
* I understand that attendance at all rehearsals and performances are mandatory, unless prior arrangements have been negotiated with a band director. The Band Directors make individual exceptions based on specific circumstances. I further understand that if I miss a rehearsal, I must make up the time and the material that was covered in the rehearsal in order to be eligibile to participate in the next performance.

DEFINITIONS:
Excused Absence: illness (doctor’s note required), death in the family
Un-Excused Absences: Work, Homework, No-Ride, Over-sleeping, Part - Time Job, Club Meeting, Other school activities - etc….

Pre-Season Rehearsals:
Mini-Camps for Percussion and Guard are Mandatory
Full Band Camps are Mandatory

Students who miss ALL or Parts of Camp (Even Excused Absences) will most likley not be included in the Performance Block and will be placed in the Alternate Block.

ADDITIONALLY:

  • I make the commitment to practice my instrument regularly, and to improve my playing ability so that I can individually have a greater impact on the success of the Foster Band

  • I agree to treat my fellow band members, directors and staff, parent volunteers with respect and dignity

  • I agree to be a contributing member of the band program by volunteering at events and participating in fundraisers

  • I promise to alway represent our band program, school and community with the utmost integrity
